Maastricht east river quai

Maastricht

The oldest town in the Netherlands. Its origins go as far back as the Romans and it did belong to Habsburg, Spain and France. This rich history left its indelible traces.

Very undutch with the Burgundy lifestyle. Shopping, a wine or beer on one of the many terraces or wandering along the city walls. Everything is within reach as it is a very compact city. From the fashion in the Stokstraat to the serenity of the Basilica of Our Lady is a matter of walking minutes.

This smallness also means that a stroll on the Sint Pietersberg, cycling through the hilly landscape or a visit to Liege or Aachen can be measured in quarters of an hour. I will give you all the details.

Joke de Groot

Joke de Groot, my pleasure

"After having run my interior design shop for decades it was time for me to slow down. Just sitting idle did not suit me and so I started my Bed & Breakfast in 2014.

I enjoy the encounters with my guests from all over the world. I like to make them feel comfortable and love seeing their enjoyment with the city and the surrounding landscapes.
I will share my favorite walks and bicycle rides, the restaurants which I like to frequent and the best shops to go to. Graag deel ik mijn favoriete wandel- en fietstochten, de restaurants waar ik graag kom en de leukste winkels met u. Feel very welcome."

“Our host was wonderful and serviceminded. We had access to the whole topfloor with bedroom, bathroom, toilet and a so called ”workroom” where you could make coffee, eat and so on... When the weather was nice we had breakfast in her lovley garden.” - Anna, Sweden

Location and route

From the north by the A2: Take exit 53 in the direction of Berg en Terblijt. Turn left at the traffic lights at the end of the exit and keep going straight. Turn right at the second set of lights and continue on this street until the end. When you cannot go any further take a left onto Bergerstraat and turn right at the first intersection. You have now reached the Burgemeester Cortenstraat, about hundred meters after the traffic lights you'll find my B&B on the right side at number 77.
From the south -Liege-: Exit the A2 to the N278 in the direction of Cadier en Keer and turn left at the second set of traffic lights onto the Vijverdalseweg. Turn left at the next intersection. This is the Burgemeester Cortenstraat, where you'll find my residence at about 50 meters from the corner.

From the station by public transport. The are three buslines. Line 2 direction De Heeg, line 4 direction Amby or the number 6 in the direction of Valkenburg. All these have a stop at Burgemeester Cortenstraat. In the reverse direction the numbers 2 and 4 will take you to the centre. Getting on at the stop round the corner at Wethouder van Caldenborglaan is the most convenient.

From the station by bicycle. Either you arrive by train with your bike or you rented one at the station, it is a ride of about ten minutes or less. With your back to the station go left, follow this street with a slight bend. Turn left at the intersection and cross the tracks. Turn left again and take the first right. This street merges with traffic from the tunnel, take care. Keep going straight. Keep right at the third roundabout until the traffic lights and take a right here. You are now in Burgemeester Cortenstraat About 100 meters from the corner you will find number 77 at your right.

““Joke is a lovely hostess. She has a beautiful home and we had the use of the top floor which included bedroom, bathroom and study/coffee making area. The bed was very comfortable with no traffic noise.” - Helen, Ireland

  • Yes there are. But just only the tourist tax which is € 2 per person. That makes it hard to fit into the pricing.

  • Bicycles can be parked in the front garden and locked at the sturdy fence. Exclusive roadbikes can be put in the walled grden at the back of the house. If it is just a single one, that may sit indoors. Fietsen kunnen in de voortuin neergezet worden en met uw slot aan het hek vastgezet worden. Hele dure racefietsen mogen in de ommuurde achtertuin neergezet worden of als het er een is, in de gang.
